The History of the Logo

07/07/2021

When the franchise was created in season 95, the founder of the team decided on the name "Bombers," in honor of the San Diego Bombers, one of the best franchises in Franchise Ball History. The logo above is a classic representation of "Sin City," where the Bombers were founded, and this logo was lofted high into the Las Vegas sky as the Bombers slid their way into the World Playoffs before being eliminated by the Tacoma Fury.

In honor of the WNBA Las Vegas Aces, the Bombers re-branded in season 96 because of the number of teams going by the name "Bombers." The new logo was one of the few changes to the team, as the roster in '96 looked much like that of '95. While the Aces only made it to the second round of the Copper Spring League finals before being sent home to Las Vegas, the fans were still extremely supportive of the new team, the new logo, and the best franchise in Las Vegas. This logo would eventually be worn on the jerseys of the season 97 Copper Spring champions, as the Aces made their second World Playoff appearance in 3 seasons.

Season 98 rolled in, and the Aces were extremely optimistic about their odds. Same great logo, same great city, same great fans. Although the roster looked a little different, Aces fans were hoping to see another World Playoff appearance. They were greatly disappointed. The Aces finished with a record of 41-19, and were quickly swept in round two of the Copper Spring playoffs by the same team who had knocked them out the season before; the New York Bombers. This early exit led the Aces to take some extreme measures. Those measures? Relocate the team to Alaska. The clean new logo above was stitched into the new Anchorage Aces uniforms as the team took the field for the first time in their new home stadium, winning their first home game in Anchorage by a score of 9-0, in front of a packed crowd of over 40,000 fans. As season 97 continues, the Anchorage logo is proudly flown throughout the state after every Aces win.
